Hill walkers, runners, and Moss Rock hikers
There is no flat route in Bluff Park. Shades Crest Road and the surrounding neighborhoods are all grade, and Moss Rock Preserve adds rock, roots, and steep, uneven descent.
Uphill loads the calves, Achilles, and glutes; downhill loads the quads eccentrically and asks a lot of the knees and ankles. The complaints that follow are fairly predictable — calf and Achilles tightness, lateral knee irritation, morning heel pain — and they often respond better to work along the whole chain than at the sore spot alone. Many clients find a cold plunge after a long, hilly weekend takes the edge off sooner than rest by itself.
